The legendary film industry magazine Indiewire wraps up Toronto Film Festival 2009 with a critics poll where the most votes for best documentary went to Videocracy by Swedish director Erik Gandini. Amongst the 25 voting Canadian and American critics, were journalists from Los Angeles Times, USA Today, Philadelphia City Paper, Time Out New York och Time Out Chicago.

I am really interested in how you can destroy a democracy by tits and ass Gandini said in an exclusive interview with Indiewire, commenting on why his documentary has won such an international acclaim. "Videocracy" had its world premiere at the Venice film festival beginning September and got good reviews in for instance Screen International that wrote; Videocracy comes across at times like a documentary horror sci-fi set in the present. Videocracy has lately been number four in the Italian box office, distributed by Fandango. After the screenings in Toronto last week sales negotiations were initiated with several territories world wide. In the autumn Videocracy will screen at a great number of international film festivals like Nordic Panorama in Reykjavik, Hamptons film festival and Stranger than Fiction in New York, Chicago film festival, IDFA in Amsterdam, Sheffield doc fest, at the film festival in Seville and also in Mexico. Videocracy premiered in Sweden on the 28th August and has since then attracted a large audicene to the Swedish cinemas, distributed by Folkets bio.
