Bill C-61, dubbed the Canadian DMCA, was introduced by Canadian Industry Minister Jim Prentice in June 2008. There was an immediate outcry from thousands of Canadians concerned that the bill would render illegal every day activities and harm consumers, creators, and businesses.
The C-61 in 61 Seconds video competition is a great way that you can speak out. Just post your video as a response to this video. Deadline for submission is September 1st. A great panel of judges that includes the Barenaked Ladies Steven Page, Ontario Privacy Commissioner Ann Cavoukian, Open Source Cinema's Brett Gaylor, Galacticast's Rudy Jahchan, and FSAC President Marc Furstenau will select the best of the best. The winners, who will receive some Fair Copyright for Canada schwag, will be announced on September 15th.

Fair Copyright For Canada's C-61 in 61 Seconds Competition
The Fair Copyright for Canada Facebook group has launched a national video competition to give Canadians the chance to express their concerns about Bill C-61 on YouTube.
How do I upload a video response?
To post your video, respond to the introductory video by clicking the "Post a Video Response" link below the video player. You will then be given three options for choosing your response video: Record a Video, Choose a Video, and Upload a Video.
What kind of video can I create?
The competition is totally open. Your video can be as simple as a rant using your webcam, a mashup, or something completely new. It's your voice that matters.
What should the video discuss?
This is also completely open. You can discuss the issue that most concerns you about Bill C-61, suggest changes, educate others about the bill, or simply entertain.
When can I submit my video?
The competition is now open. Submissions will be accepted until September 1st.
When will the winners be announced?
The winners will be announced on September 15th, the date that Members of Parliament are scheduled to return to work in Ottawa.
