I"m straight...and a minister....and a huge supporter of Homosexual rights and freedoms. I find myself on a nearly daily basis apologizing for the people who follow my faith but missunderstand the very basis of "love your neighbor". You are who you are, and God loves you more than anyone could ever understand. :)

Did your church also teach geocentrism? This is a literal Bible truth, and some denominations, particularly orthodox confessional Lutheran bodies used to espouse this teaching in their parochial schools. I think this is a valid point as far as being distrustful of science and a valid criticism of Gallileo. I hope you realize that I am playing devil's advocate (excuse the pun), but this is a valid question. I can quote you verse that prove according to Biblical truth that the earth is the center of the Universe if you intend for an entirely literal interpretation and if you water it down, aren't you compromising your beliefs in a literal Bible

Hold your head up high. God knew you, loved you, and knitted you in your mother's womb before the world knew your name. It took me a long while to realize that and I wish I could be young again and be what God created me as.
