Dutch Nu-Jazz Movement

Early 2006 two leading Dutch representatives, Monsieur Dubois and State Of Monc, initiated a new platform to establish, empower and expand the scene they are both part of: Nu-Jazz. In the process, two other groups joined in: Flowriders and Jazzinvaders.

Nu-Jazz is a style of music that crosses many borders and takes away boundaries; from jazz to jungle, trip-hop to house, dub to disco and broken beat to soul. While respecting traditions and building upon them, nu-jazz creates a new format for improvisation, beats, grooves and ensemble.

By founding The Dutch Nu-Jazz Movement the bands involved like to acknowledge this growing development in jazzmusic, point out its relevance and create an organization that brings Dutch Nu-Jazz to a larger public in- and outside The Netherlands. This is done by organizing events, supporting releases and promoting the DNJM bands.
