I always think it is so funny how similar our households are. Basically, we have the same exact system of knowing where every penny is going. The only difference here is that we've gone from tracking with an Excel spreadsheet to a notebook (I actually can't remember why I changed). And we put cash in envelopes for monthly spending (one for budgeted groceries, gas etc). Then when the month is through and there is cash left we put it into savings. We also have no credit card debt :) Simplicity!
