Deleyaman is a french-american-swedish band based in Normandy, France.
Formed in 2000 by Aret Madilian, the american leader of the band, the band consists of Beatrice Valantin (the french singer), Gerard Madilian (the french-armenian duduk player), Mia Bjorlingsson (the swedish drummer) and an additional guest musician Ara Duzian (the american guitarist) who is currently active for the band's live performances.
Deleyaman has released five albums to date while creating a unique, experimental and unclassifiable sound. Their music is impossible to pigeon hole and transcends single genre categorization.
It has been described as dark wave, ethereal, minimalist, experimental, gothic, ambient, world, mystical, post-punk, post-rock, new wave or even neo-folk.
Deleyaman is still to be heard by a larger audience.
The band has not caught the attention of the trend driven media yet. Or maybe they're just not sexy enough. Whatever the reason, for the time being their music remains in obscurity only finding its way to the ears and souls of those who have stumbled upon them by chance or through the underground Goth & Dark Wave press and web media. The only press to have embraced them since their beginnings.
