From behind the drum set and the mixing board to pushing words around the page, Dominic Fragman is moving into a broad set of crosshairs across the music industry. He is involved in a variety of projects that take him through the streets of Nashville, the clubs of Baltimore and DC and the columns of All About Jazz and JazzTimes.Studying under legendary drummer Paul F. Murphy, Fragman's drumming is creating a stir. His playing has landed him endorsements with Soultone Cymbals, Kickport, Wicked Chops and Parry Chotipradit's Lucky Bird Productions. Fragman is currently performing with several groups based in the DC/Baltimore/Annapolis areas including Mixed Business, Swamp Candy, Top Shelf and the Out Of Your Head Improvised Music Collective. He is also beginning to emerge as a drum set clinician in Maryland.
After a ten month stint in a drum show produced by Brother Entertainment and Gaylord National, Fragman moved into a role performing and writing with country artist Courtlyn Carr. He produced her Turn Blue EP with Grammy winning engineer, Jim Robeson. Maverick Music Magazine of London rated the EP with four out of five stars while DC's On Tap Magazine calls Carr one of the "top four artists to keep on your radar." The drummer/producer often travels with the singer/songwriter to Nashville for performances. This fall they will be showcasing at the ICM Nashville convention.
Fragman is also the production assistant on the latest release from Paul Murphy and Larry Willis, Foundations. JazzTimes calls the disc a "hefty" statement that "dashes all doubt." Accompanied by a four out of four star rating, Downbeat dubbed the record an innovative work of "formidable musicianship" showcasing "any and every type of possibility." Fragman's name can also be found among the pages of similar publications. He is a writer, contributor and reviewer for All About Jazz, JazzTimes and JazzReview.com.
