I believe that folk music is the best form of entertainment. Because of television, folk music is not as appreciated as it used to be, this has made it much more difficult for folk music to spread. Traditionally folk music was passed on from person to person, generation to generation, in fairly informal settings, being the major form of entertainment back in the day. I have learned most of what i know from CD's, free online tablature, and other youtube folkies. The methods are a tad unfortunate but I feel that this music needs to be played and if i have to broadcast it on the internet for it to be heard than so be it. I had classical training on the oboe starting when i was in fifth grade, all the way up through my freshman year at college. In my freshman year I picked up the harmonica and was quickly playing some blues licks on it. After a horrible accident in which two of my friends were killed by a drunk driver and I was seriously injured, I realized that I didn't really enjoy playing the oboe, though i was damn good at it, I decided to focus my efforts on the harmonica, and also picked up the guitar, the year after that I got a banjo, a year and a half after that i picked up the concertina, and now I am about to venture into the fiddle, it will be difficult, but with no job, and nowhere to go, i will hack away at it until i am decent at it.
