About this user
Actor and writer Bernard Robichaud was born in Boston and resides in Canada where he grew up as an athlete playing hockey and basketball and is now an avid golfer. He started his career as a model when he was 18 years old and had a lot of success until 1981 when he met an agent in Toronto, Canada who told him he was missing his calling and he should consider becoming an actor. On that advice the following year he applied and was accepted to Dalhousie University and studied in their Theatre Arts program. Soon afterward his voice coach Dorothy Ward (Stratford Festival, George Brown University) suggested he was wasting his time because of his natural ability to perform and offered her time and private tutelage which he took over the next 4 years. She was instrumental in getting him a position at Neptune Theatre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, as a production assistant, working closely with award winning director Tom Kerr. In 1984 he was hired by Sudsy Clarke, to voice the characters in "In Becky's Name", a CBC radio drama playing both the roles of Robert and Becky. Governor General Award winning playwright Kent Stetson wrote to ACTRA on behalf of Bernard believing that anyone who could play a man and women on radio in their first professional performance deserved to be given their professional status. Bernard wrote his play Kitchen Sports in 1995, which portrays his life at home with his alcoholic father and was received with rave reviews. A career spanning more than 25 years Bernard has had numerous television and film credits and has worked with such Hollywood icons as James Caan and Kathy Bates. His most recent credits include the Trailer Park Boys 2008 Special, the new Trailer Park Boys feature film in his recurring role of Cyrus, Blue Seduction co-starring with Billy Zane and Estella Warren where he plays the role of Stanley Miles, Zane's close personal friend, and American Sunset where he co-stars with his friend the late Corey Haim playing the roles of Bob Ferlan and the Bounty Hunter. Bernard is currently writing his screenplay Kitchen Sports, an adaptation of his 1995 play set to go to camera in 2012, A Woman Scorned, a screenplay feature thriller, and a new sitcom he has co-written, The Adventures of Black Bart. Bernard performs on tour with his stand up comedy act "Drug Dealer or Public Speaker?" based on his recurring role of Cyrus from the hit TV series Trailer Park Boys which he co-wrote with Mike Myers Award nominated comedian Andrew Young, Doug Gamble, who wrote for Bob Hope, Phyllis Diller, Rodney Dangerfield, to name a few, and Praxis Award winning writer, Rudy Thauberger. His act is a portrayal of an uneducated drug dealer who Bernard knows only too well after his 10 years on Trailer Park Boys where he developed the character of Cyrus with his improvisational skills and talent. The unique stories of his life of crime, sex, drugs and very little rock and roll will keep you on the edge of your seat.
