Mylar and the derivative products is the only material that will not break down over time. If you use regular bags then you do need to replace them after a while.
Mylar is universally recommended for long term storage of paper products because of the quality and chemical stability of the material. Besides its strength, it is resistant to moisture, mildew and mold and will not yellow like poly-bags with time. Regular comic bags may be archival safe at the moment of purchase but will not stay this way.

But then why would you use mylar if the ultrapro bags are 100% to? Does mylar last longer? You know a ton more about this than me. Thanks!
