DALEK NXT LEGO
This is the LEGO "DALEK NXTerminate" one of the Doctors worst enemy. Doctor Who TV show has been around since the 1950's and as a huge fan of the Doctor i decided to create my own DALEK using LEGO Mindstorms NXT brick, and special servo module from Mindsensors.com to control the head, probes and eye. He is fully automated and use UltraSonic sensor as well as one touch sensor. Lights are from Power Function and are controlled via motor port A. 2 conversion cables are used (PF to RCX and RCX to NXT) The drive train use standard NXT servo motor. Most grey parts are from the AT-ST LEGO set #10174 and the rest from my collection of LEGO. First public appearance of the DALEK NXTerminate was for Montreal's ToyCon 2009 on May 3rd. (see related video)

6 Members of QUEBEC LEGO USER GROUP where invited at the Montreal's ToyCon held at the Marriot Hotel near the IKEA.

This video are from the clips i took that day and truly i paid more attention to my LEGO than the rest of the exhibit ... but i had great time -- Wall-E2 was more popular than my brand new DALEK NXTerminat but the fantastic comments by the few who knew well Doctor Who made my day (that and the Edwin Invasion)

Mai 3rd 2009, at Montreal's ToyCon, the Dalek NXTerminat was defeated by Wall-E2 but i won't show you that or i'll have to NXTerminate you.

I worked thru time to get this version of my DALEK ready for public appearance with the ToyCon as a deadline. was fun.

oh did i mention Doctor Who ? i don,t have enough blue LEGO to make a Tardis !

Simple NXT program making use of the NXT Servo (Motor) Rotation Sensor. Feature the EXO-FORCE green wheels track meshing and traction provided by friction with rubber wheels, one NXT with rechargeable battery Motor on port A and Ultrasonic Sensor on port 4.

I wish the thing would be faster! but then it would not be called 'snail'

I made this as one of the robots i presented at the Montreal ToyCon 2009 and used film footage of it to practice making good movie with iMovie 09 ... please stay tuned for upcoming DALEK video... cuz i filmed quite some footage of it to!!!
Meanwhile this video could be presented in a robotic classroom or NXT workshop as simple NXT-G programming exercise.

a trial MOC using the Mean Green Exoforce wheel with the new LEGO Technic Tracks
The motor is the black RC high speed motor controlled via the PF IR module and located in the front, the green wheel is then driven by the track themselves. The track and green wheel mesh perfectly together -- no NXT yet but image this PF SpeedPod being launched by an NXT base station

a sample robot made to demonstrate the new PF Lite from LiteLife.com amasing little del's to brighten you night creatures... also as the title suggest it has a red tail! i wanted to incorporate this idea into one of my robots and so... here it is!

I have not yet experienced with the PF remote/irLink capability as my only PF stuff is still inside my Wall-E

so now we have to:
1) add sensor to make tail react (speed variation perhaps)
2) use the irLink to control the lifelite PFlite nia NXT-G
3) try muscle wire hack after xmas :)
