Bach-Bukowski is a Baroque/Blues-fusion that challenges the musical convention.
Driving counterpoint flows in union with the evocative writing of American beat-poet Charles Bukowski. Piano-vocalist Willem van Ekeren weaves together 22 poems of Bukowski's work with 22 parts of 'The Well-Tempered Clavier' of J.S. Bach. The texts are sung with a raw bluesy voice over authentic baroque music played on the piano.
The famous preludes and fugues form a flowing, essential part of each song. Willem simply adds a voice-line to combine the two media. The melody, phrasing and Willem's voice support each other as the poem reaches out to the audience. This melts into Bach's music.

The 1. Bach-Bukowski cd with 13 songs was released in 2003. Willem has performed in several countries: regular concerts and festival activities like Bach festivals, musical events and literary. He now sings nine more BB songs. Three of them already are recorded on the 3-song-CD TRIPLE.
The 2. BB album is on its way!

The most fun thing I've done a little like this was setting up two mics in my recording room and holding the one, blasted loud driving hard swinging bebop blues song, by Dexter Gordon from that movie he was in.

Speaking into the second microphone, I recited with emotion matching the music, the last parts of P.B. Shelly's "Ode to Anarchy" I think its title was. Way strong results, but can't duplicate it now 'cause no 8 track tape players are available to transfer the sound to PC digital format.

...Yeah, I just like the combination of barock and blues - that's why I sent You the request (thanks for accepting it!). What You've done artistically was and is a GREAT idea - and making it come true does not belong to the easiest thinkable actions (I mean: If one wants to do something pretty hard, he or she should try to play a Bach-piece and sing at the same time --- and that's just what you did, hehe :-)...).

Greetings, Fabian.

Goed werk hoor! Ik heb (had?) niets met Bach, maar met Bukowski des te meer en ik vind het zeker geslaagd! Misschien krijg je me nog aan de Bach ook, wie weet.

The text red and white
in the middle of the video is caused by the software that I use for my video...
I can not remove them and do not work for copyright, I have to find another program to do my video.
