Hi, I'm Sean Wrona. I grew up and presently live in suburban Syracuse, NY with my disabled mom after earning my bachelor's and master's degrees at Cornell.

I attended Cicero-North Syracuse High School from 2000-2003, where I was the two-time math league champion, the district spelling bee champion, and the co-editor-in-chief of Horizons Literary Magazine. I was probably most famous for answering math problems for people in the high school halls and ridiculously fast typing. I won the inaugural Ultimate Typing Championship at the SXSW Interactive Conference in Austin in 2010, see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9EXEpjSDEw . But my true obsession in high school was being statistician of the Mensa Scrabble-by-Mail SIG, where I was also a top ten player before I stopped playing upon entering college. At some point I want to become a tournament Scrabble player and in fact have befriended several such players on Facebook and LiveJournal, and while I'm decent enough (mid-range intermediate level, which would put me about 800th-1000th in North America), I'm not affluent enough to seriously consider this.

In the summer between my bachelor's and master's programs, I started my current obsession, http://www.race-database.com, where I am attempting to archive every major-league auto race that has ever been held; it is probably already one of the top five racing statistics sites on the Internet. I have entered over 100,000 rows of data on this site in the past two years and learned a great deal about PHP/SQL coding. Yeah, it's lowbrow; I don't care. My biggest obsession in general is compiling data and I have data on way too many topics. In addition to Scrabble and racing, I have compiled gobs of data on music, demographics, politics, and lots of other things. I frequently post on auto racing videos here, but watch or listen to many more.
