Al Mat-haf (Arabic word for Museum) is a newly-built resturant on Gaza's beach with the first Museum in the Palestinian territories. Located in the North-West part of Gaza facing the seashore, the resturant/museum is built on an area of 4500 square meters, including the museum, enclosed restaurant, coffe shop and children's playground. For years, archeology in Palestine has been mostly ignored because the government and the people had bigger issues to deal with. However, this museum was built because we believe that without history and evidence that we belong to this land, we would be "preaching to the choire". The museum will thus display ancient Palestinian and Gazan artifacts that stress the Palestinian identity of Gaza and Palestine.
