Many people ask me, "Who is Alice?" What's up with the lizard? The explanation behind my unusual channel name is simple. I started this channel for fun in 2006 when I was 13 years old. I picked the name "alice" because it is an anagram for my real name, Caeli (which, by the way, is pronounced "CHAY-lee".) We had a pet iguana at the time, so I added "lizard", just for fun. At first I used the Alicelizard channel to share videos I'd made with my friends, as well as early concert videos. Many of those early videos have been deleted, but some of them remain and still get comments and critiques, as if they were recorded yesterday.
As time passed, the Alicelizard channel took on a life of its own! I uploaded more and more videos of classical and new music performed by me, alone or with friends. The Alicelizard channel developed an almost accidental following of thousands of music lovers, students searching for study videos, and casual viewers who were new to classical music but loved what they heard. Now I have almost four-and-a-half million upload views and counting!
I use my channel to spread my love of classical and contemporary classical music to listeners in countries around the world. All of the works performed are with permission, or are in the public domain. I do not derive any income from the channel, although I'm grateful to YouTube for giving me branding privileges, which makes the channel more attractive for visitors.
So, who is Alice? She's an anagram for me. As for the lizard, when she got too large for our house, we gave her back to the pet store, who promptly sold her to another lizard-lover.
Love,
Alice/Caeli
