The Words Aloud festival is three days of spoken word that takes place annually in the town of Durham, Ontario. It's an intimate and astonishing live event that brings voices from Canada and around the world to life. In addition, we host a program for children of all ages in October. We partner with The Downtown Bookstore in Owen Sound to offer the International Festival of Authors (IFOA@ Words Aloud). There are amazing writing and performance workshops given each year by some of the performers.

2011 will be the eighth Words Aloud and it promises to be as spontaneous, engaging and diverse as ever. We hope you'll join us in celebrating the human story as captured by some of the best poets and spoken word artists in Canada.
