About Me:
The Teldec label, originally from Hamburg, began its involvement with classical music in the 1920s, while Erato disques originated in Paris in 1953. Well established artists include world famous conductor and pianist Daniel Barenboim, veteran Austrian conductor Nikolaus Harnoncourt, American/French original instruments conductor William Christie, Dutch keyboard player and conductor Ton Koopman, veteran French organist Marie-Claire Alain, violinist Maxim Vengerov, the late and world famous cellist Mstislav Rostropovich, Korean superstar soprano Sumi Jo, stunning American soprano Susan Graham and San Francisco-based all-male vocal group Chanticleer, not to mention the early music group Boston Camerata with their director Joel Cohen.
The NVC video catalogue features Plácido Domingo in a series of operas covering his career as well as the famous live Tosca from Rome, Jonathan Miller's 2009 ENO production of La Bohème featuring Alfie Boe, and Daniel Barenboim's legendary Bayreuth Ring Cycle from the early 1990s. There are recordings from the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Glyndebourne, the Arena di Verona, the Boshoi and Kirov Ballets, and the Paris Opera Ballet with performances from stars such as Kiri Te Kanawa and Luciano Pavarotti.
Current artists include recently signed young English violinist Charlie Siem, eclectic pianist Joanna MacGregor, the Endellion String Quartet, the startling Swiss violinist Rachel Kolly D'Alba, and the Uruguayan-born, international conductor José Serebrier.
