Meet the Volkswagen GRC Beetle Drivers - Tanner Foust and Scott Speed

17,012 views 2 months ago
The Chicago Auto Show brought an exciting announcement from VW - the carmaker will partner with Andretti Autosports to enter the Red Bull Global Rallycross series. Driven by professional racers Tanner Foust and Scott Speed, the Volkswagen GRC Beetle will be a performance vehicle that takes no prisoners.

"These cars will pretty much do everything," says Tanner Foust. In a racing series where the vehicles go from 0 to 60 in two seconds and corner like they're on rails, the GRC Beetle will be "better than most supercars on the road." Continues Tanner, "[A] Volkswagen checks all those boxes and that's why it's a great vehicle for this sport."

As Scott Speed puts it: "maybe it's the big kid in me that comes out but [rallycross] to me is just so cool." Adds Tanner, "and what's cooler than a Beetle, especially when we're going to make it so mean and so fast?"

Owner Stories Play

Why VW? Because we've always built cars that Americans love. Sixty years after the first Beetle was sold in the United States, our cars are still every bit as fun to drive, but now they're safer and more fuel-efficient than ever. That's the Power of German Engineering. That's our story.

Now we want to hear your Volkswagen Story. We know that it's not about the miles—it's how you live them. So tell us about the time you took the scenic route or took an adventure in your VW. Share what you've done, where you've been, and who rode alongside you.
