239 views 2 months ago
Forget sex, drugs, and rock & roll — today's parents and teachers have to deal with cyberbullying, sexting, internet addiction, and exposure to inappropriate online content. Fortunately, expert researcher Dr. Megan Moreno has written "Sex, Drugs 'n Facebook" as a guide to help you teach your kids about balance and boundaries in their internet and media use and the skills they need to thrive online.

Dr. Megan A. Moreno, MD, MSEd, MPH, is a a member of the Division of Adolescent Medicine at Seattle Children's Hospital and an associate professor of pediatrics at the University of Washington. Her research is housed at the Center for Child Health Behavior and Development and she is the PI of the Social Media and Adolescent Health Research Team (SMAHRT).

The presentation was a part of the Point in Common speaker series in Stevens Point, Wis. The mission of Point in Common is to advance ideas that stimulate and motivate actions, create excitement, and raise public investment, all to improve education in the community. Dr. Moreno is joined by Professor Kym Buchanan, Ph.D., from the UW-Stevens Point School of Education during the presentation.

Point in Common is sponsored by the Stevens Point Area Public School District, Stevens Point Area Catholic Schools, UW-Stevens Point, Mid-State Technical College, Sentry Insurance, Okray Family Farms, Phi Delta Kappa and the Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin.
