About this user
AFTER HOURS, the University of Rochester's only and best co-ed a cappella group, was formed in 1998 as a vocal jazz group called Charivari. In 2000, after a fundamental change in the group's dynamic, it was renamed AFTER HOURS and evolved into the irreverent yet professional ensemble it now is.
Our members spend most of their time together building friendships through tight harmonies and kick-ass tunes. They are all phenomenally good-looking, which is a problem in rehearsal: When everyone shines like Adonis or shimmers like Aphrodite, it gets hard to concentrate.
If you'd like to see us live, After Hours has two major concerts per year, one each in the fall and spring, in addition to a joint Meliora Weekend concert with the University's other three a cappella groups. We sing serenades for Valentine's Day and take road trips to any place we possibly can. After Hours loves charity work, especially when it means performing for children: Our most memorable days are when we make kids smile with our music. Our volunteering efforts have earned us widespread regional recognition.
After Hours is a perennial contender in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) and is ranked as one of the nation's 100 best groups. In the spring of 2010, After Hours placed second in the ICCA Mid-Atlantic quarterfinal, advancing to semifinals for the first time. We also are recording artists, and have four full-length CDs to our name. The latest, "The Buffet of Kings", was cut in May 2008 and was released for sale during Meliora Weekend 2008.
