About Me:

Welcome to the Ram Club's own Ewe Tube channel! The Ram Club is renowned as one of the finest venues in the South East of England for folk, acoustic and roots music. Our aim is to create a relaxed and intimate atmosphere to allow you to enjoy the best in music to the fullest in our convivial surroundings. Now successfully relocated in the Old Cranleighan Sports Club in Thames Ditton, Surrey we have been running since 1983. Every Friday (apart from our summer break in August) we strive to bring you a full and varied programme of Folk and Acoustic artists and bands at the top of their profession. We only put on guests we like ourselves and can therefore recommend, and there is a very special kind of warmth and friendliness about the club which makes an evening there so enjoyable. Such is our reputation that we often have guests who don't normally play in a small venue like ours, and they love it so much they clamour to come back! Singer-songwriter BOO HEWERDINE re-launched his solo career at the club in 2001 (recorded and released on a CD as 'A Live One'), while famous names drop in occasionally to watch their peers and perhaps even do a couple of songs, like hit-maker BENNY GALLAGHER (writer for the likes of Art Garfunkel & Bryan Ferry and one half of the duo Gallagher and Lyle).
The music ranges from Traditional to Contemporary, Blues to Ballads, Instrumental to a cappella, Comedy, a smattering of jazz and much more.
Our fine PA gives a natural acoustic sound so you can hear everything. Doors open at 8.15 after the sound check. If you arrive earlier, you can relax in the bar area. The music starts at 8.30 with a couple of 'floor spots' - talented regulars who do one or two songs each. The club welcomes visiting musicians who would like to do a spot. The guest then does a 45 min set followed by a drinks break, and the second half follows with the artist doing a longer set. We finish about 11.15pm.
If you haven't been before, try us! We don't have a problem with the stereotyped image of Folk Clubs because those open-minded enough to give us a try don't see labels, just great music. And they come back!
For more details have a look at our website. Please note we are a club in the traditional sense run by volunteers and not for profit. We are an important cog in the touring circuit and, while we lack the infrastructure, advertising budget and paid staff of a commercial venue, we have lower overheads and therefore lower prices! Our capacity is 100 seated and 30 or 40 standing, but we only sell advance tickets for really big nights. We are very successful in attracting a wide range of punters who usually all fit in! See you there.
