I am a wildlife research biologist and nature conservationist, focussing on wild meerkats and very secretive shy mammals mainly at my research sites - The Meerkat Magic Conservation Project (eg. Timone from the Lion King is a meerkat). Have you seen any meerkat films since 1993 - then you would have been watching some of my work with meerkats - often behind the scenes as a consultant, but also in some of them too :O).
I have been given the name The Meerkat Man because I act as an interpreter of the "language" / vocalisations of Wild and Free meerkats / suricates, and interpret this for film crews and visitors in general on my wildlife Tours that I offer. I have recorded the meerkats to make over 34 different sounds used in their communication, that I have studied since 1993 and this is ongoing with my field research on the species.
I am very involved with tourism, charity and education about wildlife and sustainable development and alternative land usage projects, especially being involved in creating new protected areas / reserves.
