Last week some of our dear friends in Australia, Lou and Karia (Aussie4me) told us about their friend, Lexie, a 5-year-old girl who'd been in the hospital and could use some cheering up! They thought a Meathands vid might help out. So we got in touch with Lexie's AWESOME MOM, got a few tips on stuff Lexie really likes and then played a special "Answering Machine" just for Lexie at our weekly lounge show on July 17th in Culver City, CA.
We hope Lexie enjoys it and we hope you do too! :)
Players featured: Bill Johnson (Director), Andrew Pari, Shane Boroomand, Nikki Turner, Dawn Akemi, Marshall McGehee, Liz Gill, Sandie Bass, Heather Brumley, Mary Benedict and Janet Villalba (off-screen; voice of Lexie).

On Feb. 7, 2008 the Meathands took the stage at the Spot in Culver City with 7 female performers and only two guys. Unable to resist we took the opportunity to a little "Gender Bender" scenario where the gals could only play male characters and the guys could only play females. The audience asked that we start the improvise long form in a men's bathroom. Too much fun!!! Here are the highlights.
Players featured: Carrie Aikman, Lauri Fraser, Heather Brumley, Nikki Turner, Eric Field, Dawn Akemi, and Andrew Pari.

Hooray for Tag Team Comedy! On May 17, 2008 the Meathands accepted an invitation to travel down to Fullerton, CA and join the popular Orange County troupe "Improv Shmimprov!" on their home stage--the mighty Maverick Theatre in Dowtown Fullerton. The Meathands and Shmimprov squared off in a "challenge" format that consisted of a series of games, many we hadn't seen before but we jumped in ready to play nonetheless and it was a evening of fun and laughs with a great group of guys. Big thanks to Shmimprov and their loyal fans who gave us a lot of love that night. We may not have beaten them on their home court but we sure out-dirtied them that night--that's for sure! (Thanks to Nikki and Dawn...okay so Eric assaulted a koala bear, we'll name him an accomplice as well.)
Here's a clip from the madness clean enough for our YouTube channel. It's the opening flurry of one liners based on the interview of an audience member names simply JOSE.
Shmimprov host Erik Furuheim (killer host btw) gets us started with the interview and directs the series of "Answering Machine" messages.
Enjoy!

Here's another video that will most certainly go in our family-friendy playlist as its from one of our "Squeaky Clean" shows at the Los Angeles Dream Center. Once a month we go and take part in a community outreach event put on by a Christian group called "Hope for Homeless Youth".
Every Friday night they go out in vans and offer people young and old who are living on the street a ride back to the Dream Center for a hot meal, entertainment and an uplifting message. They call the event "Coffee House". Typically every 3rd Friday we volunteer as the entertainment.
This clip is from April 18, 2008. The game is called "Hands" where two audience members partner with our troupe members to act as our hands. On this evening the audience volunteers were a couple of folks from the HFHY discipleship program.
We hope you enjoy it!

Here's some silly fun! This is a scene from our opening flurry of disconnected scenes called "Scene Gymnasium" An audience member simply wrote "Rosh Poosha" on a piece of paper as a scene title. Here's what we did with it! A little piece of delightful nonsense with an audience member's nonsense word of choice. Enjoy!
Players featured: Janet Villalba, Sandie Bass, Phil Gibbs, Eric Field and Jason Palmer.

Okay so this one is a little darker than the last couple, but we like exploring comedy's diversity! :)
This is an improv game called "God vs. The Devil". It's a storytelling game where God (played here by Sandie Bass) and the Devil (played here by Andrew Pari) spar over the outcome of a story with their ethereal typewriters. The title is given to us by the audience--in this case we were given "Chocolate is Never Good for You". A chorus of 2-3 players acts out the story behind the storytellers. This one also features a student in our improv training program, Mr. Kevin Callahan. Hope you enjoy it! OH..and see if you can catch Sandie's subtle rewrite of Christian tradition... ;)

We thought it'd be fun to show our Youtube friends and subscribers examples of some of the "games" we play.
Here is a clip from a nifty "Enter Exit", a game where the audience assigns random words to the players which they have to work into the dialogue and enter or exit the scene whenever theirs is mentioned.
We even put in a little bit of the live set up so you can get the feel of our interaction with out audience. The title of the clip comes from the audience-suggested location for the scene: "Dollywood"!
Hope you enjoy it!
