We're a department in the Stephen F. Austin State University library dedicated to making digitized cultural heritage and natural science collections available for students, teachers, science and history buffs. Our interests lie with both the U.S. and Mexico. We are involved in exploring and documenting various aspects of both Texas and Mexican culture in order to establish a better appreciation and understanding of both cultures for students and teachers. We have recently received an Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) grant that has funded our current projects including; imaging and translating Texas, Mexican, and Spanish documents; studying the culture and ecosystems of Mexico; and sharing our results with Mexican and American audiences. Our department's intent is to create a potential model for how libraries, archives, and museums can expand their services to support life long learning.
