I entered my first singing competion on May 22, 2010, at the Illinois Music Association (IMA). I sang the song "She Will Be Loved" by Maroon 5 as a solo. After all of the solo performances were done, I won first place. Then, later that day, I performed "The Longest Time" by Billy Joel with my triplet brothers, Scott and Dustin. After performing that song, we received first place in the trio division.

On July 9, 2010, I entered the Homewood Idol. About thirty contestants entered the competition. I auditioned with "She Will Be Loved." After everyone performed, the judges had to pick a "top ten." I made the "top ten," which meant I had to perform a different song the next day, July 10, 2010. That day I performed "Sunday Morning" by Maroon 5. After the "top ten" finished performing, the judges had to pick a winner. Then, the judges decided that I was the "Homewood Idol."

On Novemeber 27, 2010, I performed at the Rialto Theater as one of the finalists for the 1st annual Rialto Idol Junior. I was the second performer out of twenty. I performed "Just the Way You Are" by Bruno Mars.

On May 21, 2011, Tyler won the IMA as a solo for the second time after singing "Count on Me" by Bruno Mars. That same day, the Uher Brothers also won the IMA for the second time by singing "Next 2 You" by Chris Brown (feat. Justin Bieber).
