Reverend Wright may have had his flaws as a man and a preacher, but nothing drove home what he's all about more than his words at the National Press Club.

He'll be a case study in college courses for years to come, I think.

why Must you hate white people?

looking at comments below I must say: there is no time for shame, redemption, yes. The lines in the sand before you have always been there, now that the dust of deception and ignorance has settled you may find yourself surrounded by a family you never knew.

The youth violence is just sickening. Churches need to pull together and work towards solutions.

Africans aren't innocent either. While their culture is an exotic one, it is one riddled with tribal disputes that continue today. Many slaves were sold into slavery by blacks who had been doing slavery before whites thought of it. Even today, Africa is riddled with civil war and genocide. Read " A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier. We also can't forget the Somali Pirates. To conclude, my point is that, no race is a evil or bad one. Europeans have as much to be proud of and ashamed of as Africans do. On a side note, if there was a racist government trying to silence people, Wright would have been dead years ago.

Allieron, u have no reason to be totally ashamed of being white. Every race has things to be proud of and things to be ashamed of. England has given Shakespeare, Queen, The Beatles, Charles Dickens and Black Sabbath. They had slavery. Italians have a great culture and history, just look a the renaissance. Their bad history is that of Mussalini. As a catholic and hispanic, i am proud of my race and religon, but I am ashamed of the Spanish Inquisition and the crusades.

I was born with less pigment in my genetic make-up than some, but reading the comments on here truly, for the first time, makes me ashamed that I'm white and share some purely physical resemblance to the sinister tools of the White-wing hate machine.
I've listened to Reverend Wright's and many of the other sermons from the Trinity Church, because I believe in being informed by what is in the Soul of a Man, not by some soundbite and spin, and you people are beautiful.
The Truth is often hard, but it has to be said.
