The Susan Cohan Colon Cancer Foundation, Susies Cause is a nonprofit organization daily fighting to reduce the number of deaths in the United States and around the world resulting from colon cancer. Susan Cohan Kasdas was a wife, mother, daughter and sister whos three year battle full of surprising strength, faith and optimism ignited a community. Her vision and desire were clear, that no child shall grow old with a parent taken from them by colon cancer and that no parent shall have to bury their child due to the disease.Colon Cancer is the second leading cause of cancer related deaths of both men and women in the United States and one of every twenty people will have an experience with the disease within their lifetime. What many dont know is that colon cancer is preventable 90% OF THE TIME WITH EARLY DETECTION AND TREATMENT. We need to be proactive in knowing our family medical history, speaking with our primary care physician at age 40 or earlier about colon cancer, getting recommended screenings, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. If at any age you experience any abdominal discomfort, bleeding, fatigue, change in bowel habits, or sudden weight loss we urge you to immediately make an appointment with a GI doctor or Colorectal Surgeon to diagnose your symptoms. Remember, the most important reason for regular screening is that the most common symptoms of Colon Cancer are NO SYMPTOMS AT ALL! GET SCREENED!
