We have received some critical parts to what may very well be the new iPhone for 2014, rumored to be called the iPhone 6.
We first take a look at the new loudspeaker. It is slightly bigger than the current iPhone 5c and 5s loudspeaker and has what appears to be a new component built into it. Will this new component and extra size take advantage of Apple's recent acquisition of Beats Music and Beats Electronics? As the video shows, the new loudspeaker also has two divisions in it while the 5c and 5s only have one. Left / Right channel maybe?
Next up is the new charge port assembly. The layout is very similar to the 5c and 5s with the headphone jack, mic, charge port, and connectors approximately in the same location. However, when we attempted to place the new charge port assembly into the 5c or 5s it was slightly to wide to fit, leading us to believe that the new iPhone will have to be slightly larger. 4.7" screen anyone?
Also, it appears that Apple has redesigned how the home button/touch ID sensor will connect to the charge port assembly. The new assembly loses the connector for the home button flex cable. Will it connect directly to the logic board now?
Finally we have the rear flash, top mic, and power button flex cable. This design is interesting because on all the previous models of the iPhone, Apple has also put the mute and volume control features on this cable with the sleep/wake button at the top. But on this new part Apple has removed the mute and volume control from this cable. As the video shows, with the new part inside of an iPhone 5s and the flash at the top right where it normally is, the sleep/wake button will be on the side of the device which is a departure from every previous iPhone design.
Is any of this real, or did we get leaked some fake parts? We don't know but can't wait till September 9th to see if we were on the money!!
