SMWIA Organizers recorded their presentation of the National Lemon Award to a Pulte Homes sales representative at a "Sales Summit" seminar/break out session at the Southeast Building Conference held in Orlando, Florida, July 2009. Kelli Bailey of Pulte Homes, Tampa had just finished a presentation on how to sell a new home for up to 10% above market value by appealing to the wants of the wife. The Lemon Award recognized Pulte Homes then 63% defective home rate in the southwest market.

The National Lemon Award was presented with the following comments:

We are here to recognize Pulte for their ability to sell defective homes across the southwest. We would like to present you with this National Lemon Award. Congratulations on a 63% defective home rate.

At the conclusion of the presentation, booklets documenting construction defects on Pulte Homes-built homes were distributed which also urges consumers to check out more detailed and up to date information at: www.poorlybuiltbypulte.info.

The security person was nearly bumping into the presenter from behind as he followed him towards the exit and there was a verbal exchange between the presenter distributing the booklets and the security person. The verbal exchange is not very audible on the video except at the very end where a threat of physical harm was made. It went something like this:

Presenter: Be careful not to put your hands on me. You are not the sheriff. The sheriff can put their hands on me, you cannot.

Security: I was trained to put my hands on you.

Presenter: Well then why dont you go ahead and put your hands on me? It would make my day.
