About this user

Rubicon's mission is to prepare very low-income people to achieve financial independence and to partner with people with mental illness on their journey of recovery. Since 1973, Rubicon has provided employment, housing, mental health, and other supportive services to individuals who are very low-income, especially people who are homeless or have mental illness. Based in Richmond, California, Rubicon Programs offers services throughout Contra Costa and Alameda counties. Our social purpose business, Rubicon Landscape, beautifies commercial and public grounds throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Rubicon was established in Richmond by community members concerned with the closure of state psychiatric hospitals and the need to develop local services for people disabled by chronic mental illness returning to the area. Located in an area of great need and high unemployment, Rubicon's original mission broadened to serve people who are very low income and are on a journey to financial independence. As a leading social service provider in the East Bay, Rubicon now serves more than 4,000 people annually.
