About Me:
While I first came to Congress in 1994 to serve the 4th Congressional District, I have lived and worked in Central Washington virtually my entire life.
I grew up in Pasco and graduated from Pasco High School. I then went on to study business administration at Columbia Basin College and at Central Washington University. I ran my family's small business, Columbia Basin Paper and Supply, and married my wife Claire and had three children and seven grandchildren. .
Before Congress I served eight years in the Washington State Legislature. In the U.S. House I work on issues of importance to Central Washington, including energy resources, nuclear waste cleanup, water supplies, and local agriculture issues.
Today I serve as the top Republican on the House Natural Resources Committee, the Committee with jurisdiction over most federal land use and water policies, including national forests, national parks and monuments, wilderness areas, national scenic areas, Indian reservations and BLM lands.
