Purpose: As life long Hip Hop heads, Rap Revival is our contribution to Hip Hop. We feel like anyone who is down with Hiphop can make their own contribution, whether it be writing rhymes, rapping, DJing, beat boxing, etc. Rap Revival is not about bling bling, fake gangsters, making it rain, or any of the other things promoted by the abomination known as commercial hip-hop. (No offense if you like those things, but chances are you will not like us, sorry!) Rap Revival is about art and contributing to Hip Hop as homage to it for the positive effects and enrichment it has had in our lives. We're not looking for a record deal, or to get paid, we are just looking to put our contribution out there and if you like it, awesome, if not, that's cool too. That's why we're in america. If you would like to contribute your own art containing the essential elements of Hip Hop, email us at raprevival@yahoo.com. We have much more material we will be releasing in the future, and we love to collaborate with other artists who are on the same page as us when it comes to Hip Hop.

Background: Hip Hop has been so commercialized that there are "Hip Hop" exercise videos, "Hip Hop" McDonald's commercials, "Hip Hop" dolls for little girls, and you know any time now they will come out with "Hip Hop" toothbrushes and "Hip Hop" dinnerware. We cant take it anymore, so we started Rap Revival. The purpose is to revive rap. We do this by promoting and paying homage to the elements of hip hop, and all the people who have contributed positively to hip hop. This isnt about real rap vs fake rap, its about the definition of hip hop as we see it. Beats and Rhymes are hip hop, excercise videos are not, big wheels are not, cell phones are not, dolls are not, "Hip Hop Barney" is an abomination. Stop the madness. We're very interested to see how many people there are out there that feel the same way.

We respect each persons right to like whatever music they want, we're not out to define what is wrong or what is right, we are trying to clarify and categorize. It is illogical to us that Nas, DJ Premier, Jurassic 5, and Krs-One can be called hip hop along with exercise videos and barbie dolls. A line has to be drawn, where is that line? We would love to hear your input.

The podcast for last weeks hip hop radio show "The Session" on 91.7 WIXQ is now available at www.raprevival.com. Last week Even Stephen and the MarXman hosted a retrospective of the year 1993 in hip hop. The podcast not only contains the 2 hour radio broadcast but an additional 90 minutes of music that could not make the broadcast due to the radio stations time constraints.
