"Because I don't have a kitchen, I can't prepare hot meals," says James Nelson, a client in our HIV/AIDS program. "My partner and I look forward to answering the door every day when the Project Open Hand volunteers arrive. To be able to share a hot meal together gives me the chance to feel normal. The healthy meals and groceries you provide have added years to my life." James receives home-delivered, hot meals, as well as weekly groceries from Project Open Hand. A former restaurant owner, James lives in an SRO hotel in San Francisco's Tenderloin neighborhood.
