The main purpose of this channel is to explain in simple terms the conclusions of scientific research, and correct some of the unsourced crap we get fed on the Internet.

Most of the videos debunk creationist and religious claims. Every year the coveted "Golden Crocoduck" is awarded to the most outrageous piece of bullshit spouted in pursuit of the creationist cause, and most of the debunking videos feature Golden Crocoduck nominees. Voting is in October and is open to everyone, so join the thousands who now regularly vote for their favorite mendacious preacher. There are two main playlists. The "Made Easy" series explains how we got here, from the Big Bang to the human migration out of Africa. The Climate Change series explains how greenhouse gases work, looks at alternative theories to climate change, and debunks the huge number of urban myths that are zipping round the Internet.

UPDATE: Anthony Watts has agreed to give me space for a rebuttal to Monckton on wattsupwiththat (His guest post is here http://wattsupwiththat.com/... ) -- short of what I requested, which was the same guest-post platform, but certainly better than being stuck in the comments section where Monckton refuses to debate me. My rebuttal will be announced on WUWT and a link given. I hope enough people are interested in seeing Monckton rebutted to link to it. Watts also says he will put my response side by side with Monckton's original guest post, which is very good news. For the first time, WUWT readers will have the chance to see a point by point rebuttal of Monckton's claims, complete with actual quotes and citations of Monckton's own sources. I hope Mr. Watts will allow this to continue into a full debate over the coming months. So far Mr. Monckton has shown a remarkable reluctance to answer questions I put to him in the comments section of his WUWT response.
About Me:

I've been a journalist for 20 years, 14 years as a science correspondent. My degree is in geology, but while working for a science magazine and several science programs I had to tackle a number of different fields, from quantum physics to microbiology. You'll find a complete resume in the video "Who I Am."

POSTING: Anyone is free to post on the fora, and ALL views are welcome. You won't find that on most fundamentalist channels, but I have nothing to fear from open discussion or criticism. However, my tolerance has been abused by people whose sole object is to disrupt the channel, so reluctantly I have now had to ban three people from participating. Just so you can't say you weren't warned, here are my criteria for banning:
1) Advertisements. My channel is not a free billboard.
2) Plagiarism. If you copy and paste someone else's work, don't pretend that the writing is yours. Put it in quotation marks and give the author credit. Hard to believe, but the fundamentalists who have done this cannot understand when I explain that what they are doing is deceitful and intellectually shallow. If you understand so little, don't just cheat and copy from someone else. Learn some facts, then use your own arguments. 3) Spam. I know it's fun to disrupt the fora by copying and pasting huge chunks of text again and again. Going back over a point you made earlier is fine, but mindlessly spamming the same post repeatedly will no longer be tolerated.

Peter,
Love your work, keep it up. Is there any chance you'll be attending the Global Atheist Convention this year in Melbourne?

@greenthumb84: The Global Warming Petition Project (a.k.a. "the Oregon Petition")? The one that can be signed by anybody in the U.S. with a Bachelor's degree in the science and/or engineering (of which there are, as far as I can tell, about 5 million in the U.S.)? The one that's been signed by only 39 [claimed] climatologists? The one where more than one third of the signatories only have a Bachelor's Degree?

"And to answer the person who asked me who I meant by corrupt academics well sadly pretty much all of them"

Uh uh, try again, Greenthumb. I told you to NAME them, and to be specific about what they've done. Because I strongly suspect you don't know who any of them are. By the way, if you really feel pretty much all of them are, why have you tried to cite a couple of them ibn your attempts to 'debunk' IGW?

Like TedSmithll has already pointed out, you're not saying anything that hasn't been claimed, and discredited, a thousand times before. Indeed, you're one of the most basic-level 'skeptics' I've encountered in a long, long while.

@greenthumb84 I guess you're referring an article published on September 17, 2011 named "Gore's Fuzzy Logic" on

minnesotansforglobalwarming -dot- com/m4gw/2011/09/gores-fuzzy-logic.html

Its funny how I also see this article from March 16, 2011 explaining this:

weather -dot- com/blog/weather/8_24218.html

check for yourself, if you mind.

And @ stargasm1 there almost certainly will be a crocoduck award this year, as there is a playlist running with the nominees atm.

@greenthumb84: The globe hasn't warmed for 15 years? So I guess this is the GWPF press release quoted in the Daily Mail.
Now, this claim is based on HadCrut3, from the Hadley centre and CRU, who were at the centre of climategate. I'm surprised you base your beliefs on their data. Why not NASA's GISTEMP, which shows continuing warming?
So, how is a real skeptic to pick between these sources? I went and looked at the data. Here are some numbers which might help: For their December 2005 temperature, HadCrut3 was based on readings from 1451 weather stations and covered 65% of the land surface. GISTEMP was based on ~2800 weather stations and covered 99% of the land surface. HadCrut3 coverage continues to decline.
The new Berkeley Earth dataset, which used 15,000 stations in that month, shows the fastest warming of all.

Petition project, look it up.

Sorry to hear about the GC this year. I hope it returns next year... I love it.

@ greenthumb84: Please back up your statement about the 97%. Are you saying that because they weren't surveyed they must not believe it? Are you saying someone talked to 31,487 scientists? There are almost 500,000 scientists in the US. What portion are the 31,487? Can you provide a website? p.s. - you can just tell us the name of the site you don't have to provide a link. Thanks
