The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Library

Established on 1 August 1972, the PolyU Library is the busiest academic library in Hong Kong with 2.5 million persons going through the turnstiles and 1 million circulation transactions during 2010/11. Statistics show that there is a growing use of the physical Library as well as a spectacular increase in the use of its digital Library platform.

The physical Library is a six-storey purpose-designed building with an area of 16,662 square metres, located at the center of the Hung Hom Campus. At the same time, we have a very strong presence in the virtual campus of the University in Second Life, the first-of-its-kind in Asia. Users can use the virtual Library as an alternate way to access e-resources, talk to avatar librarians, attend workshops and small group meetings, and Library activities and exhibitions.
