PVGP Overview Videos
The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix's mission is to produce a world-class vintage racing event in order to raise funds to help provide residential care, treatment and support for developmentally disabled individuals in the Pittsburgh region.
Because of the generous support and contributions from our sponsors, and the dedication of our volunteers, we have been able to donate $2.75 million to two wonderful charities: the Autism Society of Pittsburgh and Allegheny Valley School.
Our mission -- To maintain a world-class racing event that is free to the public to give all money to our two charities. It has been a quarter century since a cadre of car nuts met in a Shadyside garage, and each year brings its challenges. But, with the undying dedication of the volunteers and the enthusiasm of our racers, car show participants, sponsors, and spectators, and encouragement from our charities, we continue to grow and remain the nation's largest vintage sports car racing event....and the only one run on city streets.

Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix
Schenley Park Race Groups
The first race event was the brainchild of Art McGovern and Mary Beth Gmitter who, in 1982, met with Myron Cope of WTAE TV, Dan Torisky of The Autism Society of Pittsburgh and Rege Champ of Allegheny Valley School.
Following the meeting, the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix Association was founded and designated a nonprofit organization incorporated for the express purpose of sponsoring the race.
Others involved in this brainchild were racer Dick Scott, SCCA Board of Directors Member Tony Phelps, and Alcoa Marketing Manager Dick Jevon. They, along with many other volunteers to follow, set out to run the first vintage race in Schenley Park, made available for the event by Pittsburgh Mayor Richard Caliguiri.

After a tremendous 2008 "All Italian" Marque of the Year celebration the PVGP created the "Cortile" in 2009. In Italian "Cortile" translates into courtyard which is an appropriate name for our display of fine Italian machina on the 18th fairway of the Bob O'Connor Golf Course at Schenley Park from the highest vantage point of the entire car show.
A gourment private lunch, an art show, live video feeds from F1 and IRL races, and live opera music are hosted inside the Historic landmark Pittsburgh Golf Club.
Participants are also treated to an exclusive private viewing area on the Westinghouse Fountain which is Turn 9 on the Schenley Park race course.
Marques to be seen: Abarth, Alfa Romeo, DeTomaso, Iso Bizarrini, Ferrari, Fiat, Lamborghini, Lancia, Maserati, as well as Vespa and Ducati

Race Driver Interviews
The 2011 Schenley Park races will be sanctioned by the PVGPA.
Race Drivers at the PVGP must be a current member of a vintage racing licensing organization in order to participate. These of just some of the drivers we caught and had a few minutes to talk to about their cars.... That's part of the beauty of the PVGP is talking to race drivers who as passionate about cars as the fans.
We are very grateful to the Vintage Sports Car Club of America (VSCCA) and their members who helped establish our race and have supported it for three decades. Our new race groups include all VSCCA cars that have competed at Schenley Park in the past. We are attempting to increase the grids by adding to the existing drivers/cars that have competed here in the past -- VSCCA members are encouraged to continue racing with us and we hope that they join us for both race weekends.
Car Shows: Porsche
The Allegheny Region of the Porsche Club of America (PCA) always put forth a great show at Schenley Park with over 200 cars covering the hillside along Schenley Drive.
