To understand the WHY of the wall requires one to study the American Republic. For example, the recently arrived American who lived in a foreign country, could not understand why we are building a wall. His argument makes three presumptions: (1) america has unlimited resoucres to house, feed, care for and educate an unlimited number of immigrants; (2) our quality of life does not suffer from an ever increasing number of people within our borders; and (3) states can borrow money from unknown source without raising taxes (property, sales and income tax). He favors an open border in which anyone has an unalienable right to dilute our economy, compete against unionzed workers, fail to pay taxes, receive public benefits, require more governmental employees all meanwhile the states lay off employees and lower wages. Our schools are tremendously overcrowded.

I lived in Mexico for two years. I found it to be a wonderful country with abundent resources. Why would anyone ever want to leave a cou8ntry which can grow just about any food known, There are states with beautiful forests. States which have an abundance of tropical fruit. they have an unlimited supply of gas and oil. There are many low wage employees helping to bring inflation under control Every year Mexican universities graduate a 100,000 students. their workforce is very well trained. Housing outside its major cities is relatively inexpensive. Civil housing excuses shoddy construction so a homeowner can easily modify his/her home. Tourism produces thousands and thousands of jobs. Mexico has open elections. civic pride is prominent among hundreds of thousands of business owners. Tourist facilities are of a high caliber. I can't understand why anyone would leave to come here to live in a cramped apartment.

Regarding "andids" comment claiming that we're all illegal aliens, that's a totally invalid argument. The recent problem stems from the absorbent high numbers. And, to answer his question: perhaps he should investigate Kennowick man. (or the stoneage pre-historic Cro-magnun settlers in Virginia).

Why don't people understand the immigration issue? Are they ignorant of just passe? I belive it is both. Most people don't understand and would rather not think about the impact will have on our children and grandchildren when many illegals drain the US entitlement system dry for "free benefits"!

Illegal Immigration is just that Illegal. Any questions? We have laws on the books but special interests like the bankrupt unions want more members to milk from when they are employed. Unions are special interest and gave many hundreds of millions to get BHO in office. Now they want payback....

Actually France made that statue and the logo on it. I suggest that we send the statue and all the illegals to France, it's their turn to take in some huddled masses. Problem solved.
