Rare groove to make you move
About Me:
My passion for hard hitting beats began in Seattle during the mid 90's. At the time, kids were either rocking Tommy Hilfiger from Southcenter's Bon Marche or Ben Davis gear from Chubby & Tubby, brandishing gelled 10 inch bangs that could impale the unwary, and mastering their courtship of girls by working up 10 match winning streaks on the Street Fighter machines at Silver Coin. At night, we watched dubbed (and redubbed) VHS copies of the Roxy scene in Beat Street when we weren't watching Bloodsport or Kickboxer for the 200th time. And there was bboyin' thanks to a resurgence in Seattle's hip hop movement lead by Seattle native Fever 1 (DVS/RSC) and Jeniah Kamikaze. In 1995, we had what was perhaps the most important jam in 206 history -- the battle between Fever 1's progeny, B.O.S.S. (Breakin Old School Style), and an unknown group of Filipino kids known as Full Force making their first trek outside of Vegas just to battle.
Guys like Lazy, Wendell, Rodericko, Arthur, Kenny, and Alfredo (Free) were quickly inspiring impressionable youth from Marysville down to Tacoma, from White Center to Renton, through style and swagger in the way they talked, walked, and rocked to the beat. The music you hear on this page invokes the spirit of that time, not just in the heat of the cyphers, but the essence of living in pre-gentrified Seattle. Thanks for visiting.
Peace
