Model Engines (Aust.) Pty. Ltd. was commenced in 1980 by the father and son team of Tony & Mike Farnan. This was a follow on from the original hobby company, O.S. Distributors (Aust.) Pty. Ltd., which was established in 1953 by Tony Farnan who pioneered the introduction of O.S engines into Australia as the exclusive agents. The business imports and distributes, on an exclusive basis, model radio control equipment, engines, kits and a full range of accessories with spare parts. These products are sold on a wholesale basis to the total network of retail hobby and toyshops throughout Australia and New Zealand. Operating solely as a wholesaler, the company does not sell direct to the public, thus ensuring the full support of all shopkeepers.

Model Engines (Aust.) Pty. Ltd. has won many awards (based on shopkeepers' votes) as Australia's No.1 hobby wholesaler over the years. 1993, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004.

Exclusive R/C products have been developed to win Australian Hobby Product of the Year for 1996, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2004 and 2006.

2006 O.S Engines Achievement Award

Model Engines was awarded an O.S Engines Achievement Award by O.S Engines President, Mr. Ishikawa, for the world's best sales increase for 2006. This now ranks Model Engines the number three ranked O.S Engines distributor behind Germany and the USA and number one in the world based on sales per head of population.

Australian Trade Fair Awards.

As an annual participant in the major Australian Toy & Hobby Fair, Model Engines has won the award for the Best stand of the Fair from 200 toy industry entrants in the year 1993 and 2000.

Experienced hobby executives and staff.

The two principals, Tony & Mike Farnan, have been involved in hobbies all their lives. Tony Farnan is a former Australian National and State Champion in many categories of Control Line Flying as well as a former National and State Champion in Radio Control Aerobatics. Mike Farnan has had many years experience in R/C model boats, cars, aircraft and helicopters. In 1988, he won the Australian National R/C buggy title and after commencing to fly R/C helicopters in 1992, has flown as a member of the Australian F3C helicopter team in the World Championships in Austria, Japan, Turkey, Poland and USA. Mike has won the Australian National and State F3C helicopter titles many times and currently holds the official FAI world non-stop R/C helicopter duration record of 134kms. In addition, he is in the 2002 Guinness Book of Records for a long distance R/C model helicopter flight of 300kms over water. Our staff of 22 is made up mainly of experienced R/C modelers in all categories, many of them State and National titleholders.

Model Engines exclusively represents more than 65 of the worlds most important hobby manufacturers mainly from Asia. Famous brands such as O.S, engines, HITEC Radio Control Equipment and MABUCHI miniature DC Motors to name a few. In addition we have exclusive licensing contracts to produce 1/10th and 1/18th scale radio control cars with The Holden Race Team, Holden Special Vehicles and the Ford Motor Company. A complete range of backup spares is carried at all times and that plus personal advice to retailers is a major reason for award winning successes
