This channel is about my Media Studies class,
Learning From YouTube: youtube.com/group/lfyt08 (Fall 08) and youtube.com/groups/learningfromyoutube (Fall 07).
This course was held in, on, and about YouTube in Fall 2007 and again in Fall 2008 at Pitzer College: all research, assignments and classes occurred on and about the site.
Check out our class YouTube pages (links above), to see class related, student-produced videos, posts and discussion.
Also see playlists here, especially the 6 TOURS from Fall 07, which will help navigate the themes and lessons of the course for Fall 08. Students have embellished these tours as class exercises, and have created their own YouTours, accessible through the Fall 08 class ite.

lindbergmagnus: Given that I've been teaching and writing about and on YouTube for three years my point is playful: not really to get off, but to push it in ways it is not built to accommodate more demanding uses: like learning. Then to ask why it is so hard to learn and talk and interact and build here (although we can press it to this). Why social networking tools are built to favor certain pastimes and goals over others.

The channel through which we are discussing now, can of course be seen as a means of communication and learning "hang out with others". Basically, the requirements for learning via YouTube is positive. I refer mainly to Youtube is always available when we want to learn something. We can see a lesson over and over again. Or skip the sequences that we think are uninteresting. The bottom line is that when we ourselves feel that we are inspired to learn as is the possibility of this twenty-four seven. There is obviously a communication from only one direction and I understand that you believe it is important to the social bay in the subject of learning. Which I think is important too but I argue that if we are using YouTube's features to the max by thoughtfulness, it is a good medium for learning.

Looking forward to your comments and views on the subject. Hope my text was understandable ...

Thanks in advance. Sincerely, ML
