The young conductor MANUEL LÓPEZ GÓMEZ is on the cusp of a major international conducting career. Born in 1983, in Caracas, Venezuela, is a protégé of the internationally known Venezuelan music education program called "El Sistema".
He began his conducting studies in 2000 under the tutelage of Maestro José Antonio Abreu and has received conducting classes with Maestros: Gustavo Dudamel, Sung Kwak, Wolfgang Trommer, Segio Bernal, Alfredo Rugeles, Rodolfo Saglimbeni and Eduardo Marturet.

In addition to his many successes in Venezuela, Manuel is also garnering international acclaim as a conductor Due to his high level of talent he is a 2010/11 Dudamel Fellow, having been chosen to participate in the Dudamel Fellowship Program with the "Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra". As a Dudamel Fellow, he served in September/October 2010 as cover conductor to Gustavo Dudamel and Charles Dutoit and he also conducted the Los Angeles Philharmonic in five concerts for youth and community concert series, in one of them, with one of the most important pianist Emanuel Ax as soloist. López was called back as assistant conductor to Dudamel and the "LA Phil" for two weeks in March 2011.

Manuel López Gómez made his debut in Sweden with the "Gothenburg Symphony" in April 2011 included three concerts in Göteborg and five concerts in a National Tour, he was invited back to conduct in 2012. In May 2011, Manuel conducted to the internationally acclaimed tenor Juan Diego Flórez in Perú and also made his Asian debut in South Korea with the Busan Philharmonic Orchestra and the Daegu Symphony Orchestra in June and July 2011.
Manuel has been semifinalist in the Sir "Georg Solti" International Conducting Competition in Frankfurt, Germany (2008) and he also has enriched his career in Opera as assistant conductor to Gustavo Dudamel on international productions of Verdi´s "La Traviata" and Puccini´s "La Boheme".
He began his musical studies on the violin at the age of six, and joined the National Children´s Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela in 1999, subsequently touring with the orchestra to the United States, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, Italy, Germany and Austria. He was concertmaster of the Youth Orchestra of Caracas for four years and as first violin player for the "Simon Bolivar" Symphony Orchestra when it made tours of the United States, Europe, Asia and South America.
Manuel is frequent guest conductor of the Simón Bolivar Symphony Orchestra and the Teresa Carreño Youth Orchestra of Venezuela as well as many Venezuelan and International Orchestras. He has been called "a rising star, and is uniquely talented."
