Secular Humanist

Secular humanism is a humanist philosophy that upholds reason, ethics, and justice, and specifically rejects the supernatural and the spiritual as the basis of moral reflection and decision-making. Like other types of humanism, secular humanism is a life stance that focuses on the way human beings can lead good, happy and functional lives.

A scientific theory is a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world, based on a body of facts that have been repeatedly confirmed through observation and experiment. Such fact-supported theories are not "guesses" but reliable accounts of the real world. The theory of biological evolution is more than "just a theory." It is as factual an explanation of the universe as the atomic theory of matter or the germ theory of disease. Our understanding of gravity is still a work in progress. But the phenomenon of gravity, like evolution, is an accepted fact.


I am gill-less, organic RNA/DNA protein-based, metabolic, metazoic, nucleic, diploid, bilaterally-symmetrical, endothermic, digestive, tryploblast, opisthokont, deuterostome coelemate with a spinal chord and 12 cranial nerves connecting to a limbic system in an enlarged cerebrial cortex with a reduced olfactory region inside a jawed-skull with specialized teeth including canines and premolars, forward-oriented fully-enclosed optical orbits, and a single temporal fenestra, -attached to a vertebrate hind-leg dominant tetrapoidal skeleton with a sacral pelvis, clavical, and wrist & ankle bones; and having lungs, tear ducts, body-wide hair follicles, lactal mammaries, opposable thumbs, and keratinized dermis with chitinous nails on all five digits on all four extremities, in addition to an embryonic development in amniotic fluid, leading to a placental birth and highly social lifestyle... or in other words a primate.


What's Evolution?
Variation:
1)Variation exists in all populations.
2)Some of that variation is heritable.
3)Base pair sequences are encoded in a set of self-replicating molecules that form templates for making proteins.
4)Combinations of genes that did not previously exist may arise via "Crossing over" during meiosis. which alters the sequence of base pairs on a chromosome.
5)Copying errors (mutations) can also arise, because the self replications process is of imperfect (although high) fidelity; these mutations also increase the range of combinations of alleles in a gene pool.
Selection:
6)Some of that heritable variation has an influence on the number of offspring able to reproduce in turn, including traits that affect mating opportunities, or survival prospects for either individuals or close relatives.
7)Charaacteristics tend to become more common over generations if they tend to increase such prospects.
8)"Sampling errors" can occur in populations that alter the relative frequency of the various alleles for reasons other then surviva/reproduction advantages.
9)Migration of individuals from one population to another can lead to changes in the relative frequencies of alleles in the "recipient" population.
Speciation:
10)Populations of a single species that life in differend enviroments are exposed to differend conditions that can "favor" differend traits. These enviromental differences can cause to populations to accumulate divergend suites of charateristics.
11)The combination of these effects tends to increase the diversity of life forms.
