India in Flux: Living Resistence Play

http://miff.com.au/program/streams/india-in-flux-living-resistance //
A history of dissent and engagement with the 'real' differentiates Indian documentary from the fantasy worlds of Bollywood. Documentary cinema in India is the space where matters of politics, citizenship and culture are discussed. Produced by artists, activists, ordinary citizens and trained filmmakers alike, this democratic practice circulates through screening efforts of dedicated curators, people's organisations and filmmaker collectives. Currently experiencing a prolific phase of production and circulation, this cinema is one of the best examples of truly independent filmmaking. India In Flux: Living Resistance brings a selection of its most important films and filmmakers to Melbourne.

Co-curated by Shweta Kishore
