Battle of The Fans
Sportsmanship is an important part of educational athletics, and student cheering sections can be a key factor in having a festive high school event. The MHSAA Student Advisory Council wants to see your student section in action, and see how you contribute to a fun and positive experience. The MHSAA Battle of the Fans competition will let us all see just who has the top student cheering section in Michigan.
Send us videos of your student section making noise on game night. We want to see videos that reflect enthusiasm and togetherness within cheering sections. We want to witness cheers that pump up the atmosphere without disrespecting all involved in the sporting event. We want to see a mixture of school spirit and positivity within student cheering squads.
Anyone can create the Battle of the Fans video: student section leaders, members of the video production class, yearbook staff, student council or anyone else. We think, though, the best videos will probably use teamwork from the entire student body.
Why Do You Play?
We all have our reasons for playing school sports -- what's yours? Is it for the competition? To stay in shape? To win championships? To be with friends? Or is it just to have fun?
The MHSAA is now looking for videos from students around the state answering the question "Why do you play high school sports?" Post a short clip to YouTube, send us the link, and the best videos and answers will be compiled and shown at MHSAA championship events and during championship broadcasts in 2011-12. The makers of the best videos will also get tickets to a championship game of their choosing next year.
We encourage creativity -- and make it entertaining! The 16 members of the MHSAA Student Advisory Council will be judging the videos; we want some good answers, but have fun with it, too.
Here's how to enter:
1) Get your camera, press record, and answer the question: "Why do you play?"
2) Post the video to YouTube, and tag it with "MHSAA".
3) Copy your YouTube link and send it to SAC@mhsaa.com. We'll post your video on our Playlist.
4) Grab a friend, and repeat steps 1-3
The deadline is Memorial Day (May 30), and the MHSAA Student Advisory Council will pick the winners during the summer.
BuzzerBeaters Contest
Prior to the 2011 Boys & Girls Basketball Finals in March, the MHSAA will conduct a fan-favorite contest to determine the best game-winning shot among these clips.
