About Me:

First opened to the public in 1915, the Medicine Hat Public Library has provided public library service to the people of Medicine Hat and area for over 90 years. Today's library is an accessible, welcoming environment that provides a wide variety of services and collections. Located on the corner of 1st Street S.E. and River Road, at the edge of historic downtown, Medicine Hat Public Library is ideally situated for locals and visitors alike. With its large collection of books, CDs, DVDs, and audiobooks, the Library is the major information and literary resource in the city. To increase access to information, the library collection includes electronic resources and downloadable e-books and audiobooks. Free access to the internet is available to all library visitors through the library's public internet computers and wireless service. The library also has listening stations so library visitors can enjoy the 100s of CDs. The Library participates in the TAL card program, allowing people from all over Alberta to use their TAL card to borrow library materials. The Library's central location and barrier-free access mean its meeting rooms and theatre host many cultural events, speakers and recitals throughout the year. The library is open seven days a week -- closed on statutory holidays. Library hours are Monday to Thursday 10am to 9pm, Friday and Saturday 10am to 5:30pm, and Sunday 1pm to 5:30pm.
