LOST HORIZION (1973)

This 1973 retelling of the classic tale of James Hilton's Utopian lost world plays out as a musical production complete with Bacharach pop music. While escaping war-torn China, a group of Europeans crash in the Himalayas, where they are rescued and taken to the mysterious Valley of the Blue Moon, Shangri-La. Hidden from the rest of the world, Shangri-La is a haven of peace and tranquility for world-weary diplomat Richard Conway(Peter Finch). Here there is no crime, no war, no sickness, no pollution, no sadness and a lifetime may be in the 100s of years. His ambitious brother, George(Michael York), sees it as a prison from which he must escape, even if it means risking his life and bringing destruction to the ancient culture of Shangri-La.

Hello from Marcus in Hollywood, California, USA!

May you all find your own Shangri-La.

Can't believe I found this! Thank you so much for uploading it. I saw this in the theater when it came out and have longed to see it again. As someone else wrote: What a blessing!

This is one of my favourite musicals from the 70's era! Yes, it is a flawed film, but the music is pure Bacharach genius and I still remember these songs from my early teenhood 'til today. If only people could simply relax and enjoy it for what it was meant to be, they would enjoy and love it as much as we fans have for all these 37 years - it must be a classic then. I'm so grateful to be able to watch this film here on YouTube as I have been searching for this movie for a very long time. Thank you very much.

When I was a little girl we had this soundtrack on 8-track. While I was a teenager, the movie played on tv once. I wanted to see it badly but My dad wouldn't let me stay up as it was a "school Night'. I have wanted to see it ever since. I finally saw it as an adult... Cheesy movie yes in some ways. But I still love it. My heart and soul responded to the message of the songs as a child and as a adult I long for Shangri-la.
