The capsule distance from the front of the windscreen is to help reduce proximity effect, or the bass boost your get from being on top of the mic, a common occurance with cardioid pattern mics. The added bonus is the reduction of plosives.

ok so please answer me lol... ok i use grageband on my mac and it has some eq's in there and what not to change and i have a yamaha pre amp thing and i gibson guitar into the preamp into the computer. lol so do i really need a mixer or idk that is really all i have, i dont have monitors or anything so can u sugest what to get and what is needed to make some nice sounds but i have a pretty low buget... thx

bubudread, I also jam guitar and do not play drums. So I been using FL Studio for my drum beats, it comes complete with 8 hats sounds, 3 Kicks sounds, 11 snare sounds, 2 crash, 6 Toms, and of course shakers, claps, etc. It also has drum loops, but to be honest, all but two drum loops are really gay. I been using this for sometime, so I would love to hear of another program with drum beats.
