I'm taking an MEd in Linguistics and really enjoy Leofwin's Youtube video's. Old English readings are often dominated by the Germanic prosody in the poetry, but the prose and pace of the Chronicle sounds closer to Modern English. It brings home to you that the men that fell at Hastings called themselves 'Englisc'.

Good channel and videos. I too am in Tha Engliscan Gesithas working through Stephen Pollington`s book,. It is slow going but the progress is rewarding. How do you get hold of "eths", "thorns" and "asc". I would be grateful if you could let me know. Keep up the good work! God mid the sie.

Hurra, Leofwin! Is that your penmanship? This stuff is invaluable. I'd have to agree with other comments that your pronunciation is very convincing. Keep up the good work.

I've been meaning to put up some tutoring videos myself, but it's hard work. Your work is an inspiration to me to keep plugging on.

Hvis du 'har lyst til' at laere moderne Dansk, saa kan du se at Engelsk og Dansk er stadig( meget taet paa) Hinanden. (If you 'have lust to'=(to fancy to do something) learn modern Danish,so can you see that English and Danish are still( much tight on)(=very close to) Each-other. (eg;- Har du lyst til en kop kaffe?=do fancy a cop of coffee?)

I just wanted to let you know, I have listened to a ton of Old English readers on YouTube, and while we may never know exactly how it sounded, I prefer your readings by far. For some reason to me, the pronunciation just sounds right. Thanks so much for sharing!!!
