Constructing the doors in the warmth of your garage or on a hard flat surface is easier than trying to perform the operation on site (Please see your particular construction manual for door sizes). You will be required to dig a small trench to match your door width and attach the door frame to the hoop profile with P clips. Using a string line, ensure the door frame is in line with the hoop and backfill the trench. To help support the door when sliding, a timber sliding door support rail is fitted from the outer edge of the door post to the inside of the hoop approximately 30cms up from the ground. The sliding door runs on two sets of wheels screwed to the top of the door. These wheels run in an aluminium track which is bolted to the outside of the door lintel after the tunnel has been covered. If the ground is uneven, it might be necessary to cut the bottom of the door to fit (this is the reason nail plates are not fixed in the first instance) Once you are happy the door glides smoothly across the opening, nail a metal plate at each corner across the joint on one side of the door using twisted nails and one across each of the centre joints and cover with polythene panels getting tension on the panel to avoid any creases or wrinkles. October at Johnny's Research Farm means it's time to finish the harvest and process seeds. This video shows how seed is extracted from pumpkins and peppers.
The process is fairly straightforward. Fruits, in this case, pumpkins are gathered and pulverized. The seed is separated from the pulp by use of machine called a vine harvester, which is essentially a giant food mill. The seed is then cleaned, rinsed off with water and taken to the drier where it is heat-dried for about a day.
Pepper seed extraction is basically the same, but a much smaller machine is used. Johnny's farm employees previously extracted pepper seed by hand, but this new machine makes the job much easier and faster.
