INVERTED CONDITIONALS:
- If you meet someone who says he's learned all he needs to know about grammar, don't believe him. >> Should you meet someone who says...
- If they had created YouTube ten years earlier, I wouldn't have been ready to be an online instructor. >> Had they created YouTube ten years earlier...
- If I were to start my career all over again, there's little that I'd change. >> Were I to start my career all over again,...
We usually talk about reducing other kinds of adverb clauses such as those of time and reason, but it's possible to use other structures to express conditions. Observe how "IF" is omitted in this sequences:
- If you want to increase your vocabulary, you should read a lot. >> You should read a lot in order to increase your vocabulary. >> You should read a lot to increase your vocabulary.
- If I had a tripod and professional lighting, my videos would be better. >> With a tripod and professional lighting, my videos would be better.
IMPLIED CONDITIONS/ OTHER WAYS of stating conditions:
- Do you like to study English online? IF SO, I can recommend helpful websites.
- Do you like to use CDs and DVDs in your studies? IF NOT, there are good textbooks you can use.
- You need to study regularly and find ways to practice. OTHERWISE, you will not make much progress.
- You cannot become a good at conversation UNLESS you develop good listening skills.
Have you seen my grammar lessons 2a-f on conditionals? There are additional lessons I'd like to make on this topic. Until I do, watch the lessons I've already made, and do a search online for grammar explanations/ exercises. Keywords for a search: if clauses, conditionals, and adverb clauses.
thanks
Thanks,
Rui

Hi Jennifer
Could you send me some informations about IF Clauses?
A definition to If-clauses?
When can the conjunction IF be omitted?
Is it possible to reduce conditional clauses? How?
There are other ways of showing condition instead of using the conjunction IF?. Is possible list these forms and add an example to illustrate their uses?
Explain the difference between unreal and unreal past conditions?
Thank you very much.
